When two people who really love each other commit to spending their lives together, it is such a beautiful thing. The celebration of two lives intertwining to be one is one of the most beautiful aspects of a wedding to me. Capturing these occasions is such an honor and a true passion, but I draw the most joy from creating the story. What perfectly represents your relationship? How have you struggled to get to where you are? What do you enjoy doing together? I want to dive deeper to bring out an authentic, beautiful story that extends beyond retelling your wedding day. To do this, one of the things I offer is what I call a “Story Session”.
What is a Story Session?
A Story Session is where we plan a time and day for the lovers to do something they like together, and your videographer will follow you around with a camera! This not only captures the two of you in an atmosphere outside of the wedding day, but it is also a time to be truly focused on you two and your love story. With my number one priority being your comfort, the footage will capture your authentic personalities and the relationship you’ve built together.
How Do They Work?
These story sessions are focused entirely on you two and your connection, so our first steps are to have a brainstorming call to set a tentative date. We’ll discuss the things you love doing together, locations that have been important to you throughout your relationship, and events that may be occurring that you could be filmed at. After we come up with some ideas, I’ll make a tentative suggestion to be re-visited before the shoot. During the session, it is possible for us to do multiple things depending on the plans made.
Here are Some Ideas!
If you and your lover are record fanatics, we could visit a record store or hang out at home, more of a cozy vibe while you enjoy listening to the records together. Maybe a chat at your favorite local coffee shop and peruse the city? If you love the beach, let’s go to the beach and I’ll capture you having a blast in the waves or creating a castle. The possibilities are endless, so nearly anything is on the table for discussion.
Story Session Benefits
Doing a story session means several things. Of course, you get fun, personalized footage that represents your relationship with one another. You also get an opportunity to meet and work with your videographer before the wedding day. Having a lot of cameras looking at you at one time can be intimidating for some people, I completely understand that and empathize with that. There’s a reason I like to stay BEHIND the camera! However, booking a story session means you get to work directly with me to decide what makes you feel most comfortable and authentically you.
Bringing it All Together
After the wedding day, my favorite part of the process, EDITING, begins. I truly love piecing together pieces of the vows, letters, first looks, moments throughout the day, speeches, and all of the elements that tell your story. On top of the big and small moments during the wedding day, moments from the story session will be intertwined within. The combination of your wedding day, your story session, and all of the moments that tell the story of your love will create a wedding film with even deeper meaning.
Investing in a story session to be utilized in your wedding video is an excellent way to ensure that you capture not just the events of the day, but also the unique and intimate moments that make your journey as a couple truly special. This approach allows you to create a personalized narrative that is tailored to your story, showcasing your emotional bonds and providing you with a memento that can be treasured for a lifetime. With a story session, you have the opportunity to preserve the memories of your journey together, creating a beautiful and meaningful record of your love and commitment to one another.
